It was created in Septemberwhen the people of the Rif revolted and declared their independence from Spanish occupation as well as from the Moroccan sultan Yusef. [1] [2] [3] Today, the movement to establish a neo-Rif Republic Capital: Ajdir. This source covers the Berber tribes of the Rif, an area along the northern coast of Spanish Morocco.
